Part-Time Sample Control Tech

Sample Control Technician for a Commercial Environmental Laboratory. Part-time position available between 20-30 hours/week (including afternoons and occasional weekends). This position entails helping clients with very detail oriented sample container and analysis requests, receiving and logging in client samples and transporting water and soil samples to various laboratory departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has an aptitude for science, excellent customer service skills, ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced work environment, and able to lift coolers up to 50 lbs. Training is provided and may initially require additional hours.

Part-Time Driver/Courier

Caltest Analytical Laboratory in Napa has a opening for a Part-Time Driver/Courier. 20-30 hours/week, including some weekends and holidays. This position entails visiting multiple clients as a representative of the laboratory, picking up water samples for transport back to the lab, and maintaining great customer relations. Position requires a significant amount of driving. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience, knowledge of the Bay Area and greater Sacramento areas, good navigational skills, a professional appearance and attitude, a clean driving record, and able to lift coolers up to 50 lbs. Full-Time Project Manager

Client Services Representative (aka Project Manager) for a Commercial Environmental Laboratory

Full Time position available. BS Degree required, and past lab and/or customer service experience is preferred.

The position is the central point of contact for new and established clients, and works closely with laboratory staff as well as sample receiving staff to ensure that all samples received meet client needs, and is responsible for overall client satisfaction. Ability to multitask, and work in a fast paced environment is a must. Computer skills are required, including Word, Excel, and Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) aptitude; training for LIMS provided on the job. Wet Chemistry/Biology Laboratory Analyst

Immediate opening for a Wet Chemistry/Biology Analyst. This candidate would become part of our team working in a commercial environmental production laboratory, serving Northern California for over 30 years.

Daily duties may involve any or all of the following areas of testing: Alkalinity; Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) tests; Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) tests; Electrical Conductivity; Hardness; pH; Settleable Solids; Sulfides; Total Nitrates/Nitrites; Total Phosphates; Total Suspended Solids; Turbidity; and other related analyses. Other duties involve calculation and preparation of analytical standards, reagents, and/or solutions; preparing appropriate glassware; maintaining thorough documentation of preparatory procedures according to established requirements; and providing support to other analysts as needed.

Must be able to perform analyses for regulatory studies working under prescribed procedures (standard operating procedures, methods, established quality control parameters, etc.), document and report data in a timely manner according to regulatory requirements and ensure data accuracy and quality. Must be able to understand/perform fundamental analytical chemistry/biology procedures along with good quality control measures and be able to effectively communicate, summarize and present information as well as respond to questions from groups such as management, clients and colleagues. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and LIMS desired.

Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision as well as be able to work effectively in a group setting. Knowledge of scientific discipline, relevant technical skills, laboratory equipment preferred. Organizational skills and ability to follow direction required. Safe handling of toxic chemicals, maintaining a clean and orderly work space, the use of personal protective equipment and the exercising of laboratory safety practices required.

Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area such as chemistry, biology, environmental chemistry, etc. preferred (equivalent experience may be considered as a substitute). Previous laboratory experience as well as experience in EPA and Standard Methods is highly desired. Must have an interest in working in a laboratory setting and comfortable working with chemicals.

Full-time position (40 hours/week with occasional overtime), typically Sunday through Thursday (with some additional work required as needed to meet client demands).

Lab located in Napa, CA in the north SF Bay area. Compensation commensurate $17-22/hr, relative to experience and education.
